Carpenter's 73 at Indian Spring earns him a Philly Junior Tour victory

 

   Thomas Carpenter of Bristol put together a solid 3-over-par 73 at Indian Spring Golf Course in Marlton, N.J. to capture a victory in the 16-to-18 division in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop on a summerlike Easter eve Saturday.

   Carpenter made a birdie on the 15th hole and had 13 pars on his scorecard in finishing a shot ahead of Andrew Rindgen, who capped his scholastic career at Haverford High by earning a trip to the District One Class AAA Championship last fall.

   Rindgen posted a 4-over 74 over the par-70 Indian Spring layout as his steady round featured 15 pars, including a string of eight straight pars from the third through the 10th holes.

   Tyler Whitney of Cherry Hill, N.J. had 12 pars on his card, finishing up his round with six straight pars, as he ended up in third place, two shots behind Rindgen with a 76.

   Will Krietsch, an Episcopal Academy co-captain as a junior last fall, took fourth place with a 77, Luke Farnese, a junior on the Plymouth-Whitemarsh golf team, and Landon Finsen of Westampton, N.J. shared fifth place, each landing on 78, Jamie Ciesielka of Woolwich Township, N.J. was seventh with a 79 and Matthew Smith of Hammonton, N.J. was eighth with an 82.

   Kyan DeLong, a junior on the Emmaus golf team, took ninth place and the trio of Jack Ferm, a sophomore on the Garnet Valley golf team, Zachary Daniels of Bryn Mawr and Tre Lesperance, who wrapped up his scholastic career as a senior at Unionville last fall, rounded out the top 10 in the 16-to-18 division as they finished in a tie for 10th place, each signing for an 86.

   Lucas Solano of Vineland, N.J. matched Carpenter’s 3-over 73 to finish at the top of the leaderboard in the 13-to-15 division and claim a Philly Junior Tour victory.

   Solano made a birdie on the fourth hole and had 13 pars on his scorecard, eight of them on the incoming nine at Indian Spring.

   Jesse Shurman of Villanova made birdies at the eighth and 17th holes and had seven pars on his card as he finished four shots behind Solano with a 77 to earn runnerup honors.

   Justin Stickel, a freshman on the Council Rock South golf team, had eight pars on his card as he finished in third place with an 82.

   Beckett Kush of Yardley took fourth place with an 83 and the trio of Owen Ciesielka of West Chester, William Thorkelson of Bryn Mawr and Colin Burke of Wilmington, Del. finished a shot behind Kush in a tie for fifth place, each registering an 84.

   Jason Leekley of Moorestown, N.J. took eighth place with an 85 and Luciano Fallo of Newtown Square and Evan Hahn of Berlin, N.J. rounded out the top 10 in the 13-to-15 division as they finished in a tie for ninth place, each posting an 86.

   Makalya Stone, a Garnet Valley resident and a junior at Agnes Irwin in the middle of the spring season for the Inter-Ac League girls, had eight pars on her scorecard as she captured a Philly Junior Tour victory in the girls 16-to-18 division with an 83.

   Emma Liu of Moorestown, N.J. made a birdie on the 11th hole and had six birdies on her card as she earned runnerup honors with a 92.

   Nicole Tarquinio of Bridgeton, N.J. had four pars on her card as she finished three shots behind Liu in third place with a 95.

   Olivia Diamond, who wrapped up her scholastic career last fall as a senior on the Nazareth Academy golf team, took fourth place with a 105 and Shloka Vishwanath, a sophomore on the Downingtown West golf team, rounded out the field in the 16-to-18 division as she finished fifth with a 115.

   Madison Cabot of Newtown had five pars on her scorecard as she finished atop the leaderboard in the 13-to-15 division with an 87.

   Gabrielle Kim of Ambler also had five pars on her card as she earned runnerup honors in the division with a 91.

   Mollie Heenan of Ocean City, N.J. got it going on the incoming nine at Indian Spring as she made a birdie on the 11th hole and three pars in a back-nine 40 to take third place with a 94.

   Emma Cowan of Moorestown took fourth place with a 97, Olivia Kirmayer of Downingtown was  fifth with a 101, Abby Olex, a Media resident and a sophomore on the Sacred Heart Academy golf team, was sixth with a 117 and Juliana Gatt of Newtown rounded out the field in the 13-to-15 division as she finished seventh with a 124.

   Damien Dollard of Cinnaminson, N.J. and Xunnan Dang of Newtown Square each carded a solid 4-over 39 as they shared the top spot among the field of boys 12-and-under nine-holers.

   Dollard had five pars on his scorecard and Dang had six pars on his card in a solid showing for both players.

   Charlie Sears of Wilmington, Del. and Joe Bowers of Lewisburg each finished a shot behind Dollard and Dang in a tie for third place, each signing for a 5-over 40. Sears made a birdie on the fourth hole and had four pars on his card and Bowers had five pars on his card, including a string of four pars in a row from the fourth through the seventh holes.

   Bradan Boal of Woodbine, N.J. took fifth place with a 41, Aiden Jose of Brick, N.J. was sixth with a 43, Niko Muego of Bryn Mawr was seventh with a 46 and Nolan English of Villanova was eighth with a 47.

   Rounding out the top 10 in the boys 12-and-under division was the trio of Matthew Bowman of Newtown, Adam Feith of Merion Station and Nicholas Chung of Berwyn, all of whom landed in a tie for ninth place, each tallying a 49.

   Really solid showing by Valerie Danby of Avondale as the 11-year-old had six pars on her scorecard, including four straight pars to close out her round, to earn a Philly Junior Tour victory in the girls 12-and-under division with a 4-over 39.

   Charlotte Cabot of Newtown’s Team Cabot was the runnerup with a 60 and Avery Jaffe of Richboro rounded out the field of girls 12-and-under nine-holers as she finished in third place with a 66.
