Peters captures Junior Tour victory with a 75 at Odessa National


   Tyler Peters of Berlin, N.J. fired a 3-over-par 75 to take top honors in the 16-to-18 age group as the fall portion of the Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour schedule teed off Saturday at Odessa National Golf Club in Townsend, Del.
   Peters birdied the tough par-4 seventh hole and the 16th hole on his way to a victory over the 6,290-yard, par-72 Odessa National layout in perfect late-summer golf weather.
   Christopher Waldmann of Malvern had two birdies on the front nine and a run of four straight pars on the back nine as he carded a 6-over 78 to claim runnerup honors, three back of Peters. John Bradbeer of Bryn Mawr had 11 pars, including four straight to open his round, as he posted an 80 to take third place.
   Collin Sclesky of Wilmington, Del. finished in fourth place with an 85, Danny McCall of Bear, Del. was fifth with an 89 and Will Hage of Chadds Ford was sixth with a 91.
   Nathan Longo of Newark, Del. took seventh place with a 97, Dylan Rogerson of Newark, Del. was eighth with a 100 and Jackson Ward of Middletown, Del. and William Boyce of Elkton, Md. shared ninth place, each carding a 104.
   Jacob Boyce of Team Boyce out of Elkton, Md. finished strong with a birdie at the 16th hole and pars at 17 and 18 as he carded a 6-over 78 to finish atop the 13-to-15 leaderboard.
   Sachin Blake of Berwyn had 12 pars, including separate runs of four straight and five straight pars, to claim runnerup honors with an 81. Samuel Feeney of West Chester had birdies at the fifth and eighth holes as he took third place with an 83.
   Hunter Stetson of Newtown Square finished fourth with an 87, Charles Ota of Blue Bell was fifth with an 88, Luke Harris of Hainesport, N.J. was sixth with a 93, Evan Gebhart of Magnolia, Del. was seventh with a 95 and Leo McTaggart of Wilmington, Del. was eighth with a 98.
   Darius Laws of Wilmington, Del. took ninth place with a 100, Jack Coleman of Kennett Square was 10th with a 101 and Joseph Mancini of Philadelphia was 11th with a 110.
   Rhianna Gooneratne of Plymouth Meeting continued a recent run of strong play as she made a birdie at the par-5 fifth hole and finished up with a par at the 18th hole while carding a 7-over 79 that gave her a victory in the girls 13-to-15 division.
   Gooneratne has won the division in each of the first four tournaments of the new wraparound 2019-2020 Junior Tour season.
   Ava Svindland of Wilmington, Del. finished strong, making pars on the last three holes, to earn runnerup honors with an 87. Curstan Bunch of Wilmington, Del. had three pars, two of them on the front nine, as she took third with a 90.
   Elle Overly of Lititz placed fourth with a 91, Josephine Wellons of Montchanin, Del. was fifth with a 92 and Sophie DeSantis of Glen Mills was sixth with a 117.
   Davis Conaway of West Chester made a par on the fourth hole and a birdie on the fifth hole as he posted a solid 5-over 41 to best the field of nine-holers. Reagan Garnsey of Dover, Del. had three pars to claim runnerup honors with a 49.
   Nick Linkchorst of Glen Mills and Daniel Adibi of Haverford shared third place, each signing for a 51. Dylan Michels of Newark, Del. took fifth place with a 52, Nathaniel Celentano of Malvern was sixth with a 55, Michael Liu of Garnet Valley was seventh with a 66 and Kemble Wellons of Team Wellons out of Montchanin, Del. was eighth with a 67.
