Holy Ghost Prep sophomore Calen Sanderson made eagle on the 14th hole and added two birdies as he claimed a victory in the 16-to-18 division in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop on a sweltering Tuesday at the Steel Club in Hellertown.
Sanderson ended up with a 1-under-par 71 over the 6,391-yard, par-72 Steel Club layout for his second Junior Tour win of the season. Logan Hess, a Class AAA East Regional qualifier as a senior at Penn Manor last fall, also had a solid showing at the Steel Club with a birdie at the 11th hole and 15 pars in a 1-over 73 that gave him runnerup honors.
Rocco Sanfelice of Woolwich Township took third with a 4-over 76 and Elijah Ruppert, a PIAA Class AA qualifier as a sophomore at Brandywine Heights last fall, and John Bradbeer of Bryn Mawr finished in a tie for fourth place, each carding a 78.
Justin Dougherty of Wyndmoor finished sixth with a 79, Benjamin Griffaton of Pottstown was seventh with an 80, Stephen Cain of Yardley was eighth with an 83 and Ian Federchak of Simpson was ninth with an 84.
Rounding out the top 10 were Max Giles of Wayne and Bobby Johnson of Mullica Hill, N.J., each posting an 87 to end up in a tie for 10th place.
Matthew Zerfass, a Class AAA East Regional qualifier as a freshman at Emmaus last fall, had two birdies on the front nine and a birdie on the incoming nine as he finished ahead of the pack in the 13-to-15 division with a 4-over 76.
Matthew Vital of Bethlehem, the impressive winner of the Boys 12-13 division in the Drive, Chip & Putt National Finals at Augusta National Golf Club in April, was the runnerup to Zerfass with a 78 that included birdies at the 10th and 18th holes.
Darren Nolan of Glenside had back-to-back birdies at the 10th and 11th holes to take third place with an 80. Michael Vital of Bethlehem’s Team Vital finished fourth with an 82.
Stef Bonini, a junior at the Academy of Notre Dame, had birdies at the 12th and 15th holes on her way to an 84 that gave her a victory in the girls 16-to-18 division. Bonini finished in a tie for fourth in the Inter-Ac League Championship at French Creek Golf Club in May.
Grace Sanborn of Easton was the runnerup with a 92 that featured five pars. Josie Genuardi of Kulpsville had three pars as she posted a 93 to finish a shot behind Sanborn in third place.  Quakertown senior Madilyn Siuta ad Keeler Nichols of Allentown finished in a tie for fourth place, each carding a 95.
Kayla Maletto of Sinking Spring was the lone entry in the 13-to-15 division and claimed the win with a solid 82 that featured 10 pars.
Matthew Sanderson gave Newtown’s Team Sanderson a second gold medal for the day as he had four pars in a 7-over 43 that earned him the top spot among the nine-holers. Hunter Probst of Bear Creek made a birdie on the sixth hole to finish a shot behind Sanderson in second place with a 44.
