Mirams matches par with 72 to earn Junior Tour victory at Olde Homestead

   William Mirams, displaying the kind of form that made him the PIAA Class AA champion for Notre Dame of East Stroudsburg last fall, matched par with a 72 to capture top honors in the 16-to-18 division in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop Saturday at Olde Homestead Golf Club in New Tripoli, Lehigh County.

   Mirams, who also reached the final of the Golf Association of Philadelphia’s Junior Boys’ Championship last summer at Blue Bell Country Club, had five birdies in his even-par round over the 6,054-yard, par-72 Olde Homestead layout on a day when the weather about as good as it gets in March in this part of the world.

   Plymouth-Whitemarsh sophomore Dylan Gooneratne and Luke Ciccarelli of Danville shared second place, each carding a solid 2-over 74. Calen Sanderson of Newtown was another two shots behind Gooneratne and Ciccarelli in fourth place with a 4-over 76.

   Spring-Ford sophomore Luke Watson, a PIAA Class AAA East Regional qualifier last fall, carded a 78 to finish alone in fifth. Dallas freshman Logan Paczewski, a PIAA Class AAA qualifier last fall, was two shots behind Watson in sixth with an 80.

   Connor Nelson of Schnecksville finished seventh with an 82, Nathaniel Wheeler of Northampton was eighth with an 83 and Jack Farkas of Ardmore and Jacob Haberstumpf of Bethlehem rounded out the top 10 as they ended up in a tie for ninth, each posting an 84.

Matthew Zerfass of Macungie birdied two of his first five holes on his way to a 6-over 78 that gave him the top spot in the 13-to-15 division. Graham White of West Chester and Connor Gherghel of Orwigsburg shared runnerup honors, each carding an 80.

   Christian Matt of Springhouse, Zachary Sandler of Gladwyne and Sachin Blake of Berwyn finished in a tie for fourth, each posting an 83. Brendan Meagher of Swedesboro, N.J. was another shot behind that trio in seventh place with an 84.

   Caden Blanchette of Manchester finished eighth with an 85, Dante Billoni of Lancaster was ninth with an 88, Sean Kelly of Lewisburg was 10^th with a 93 and Michael Lugiano of Shavertown was 11^th with a 102.

   Christina Carroll of Bear, Del., the Junior Tour’s reigning Graham Company Player of the Year and Sam Penecale Scoring Average Award winner in the girls 16-to-18 division, carded an 81 to capture the division. Carroll’s round was highlighted by a birdie on the par-4 seventh hole.

   MMI Prep senior Jessica McClellan, who finished 15^th in Class AA at last fall’s PIAA Championship, was the runnerup with an 89. Ashley Ea of Perkasie took third with a 96.

   Madilyn Siuta of Coopersburg finished fourth with a 107 and Grace Babinchak of Hazleton was fifth with a 114.

   Emily McAninch of Mechanicsburg was the only entry in the 13-to-15 division, so her 94 gave her her first Junior Tour victory. McAninch’s round was highlighted by a chip-in for birdie at the fifth hole.

   Hunter Probst of Bear Creek made it back-to-back victories among the nine-holers as he fired a 9-over 45. It was Probst’s 10^th victory in the wraparound 2018-’19 season. Reed Krosse of York was the runnerup, a shot behind Probst with a 46.

   Mason Tucker of York and Ethan Martin of North Wales shared third place, each carding a 47. Lawson Leeper of York was fifth with a 48.

   Noah Brand of Newtown Square finished sixth with a 49, Colton Orris of Hershey was seventh with a 53 and Lorelei Rocchio of Macungie was eighth with a 72.
