Simeone fires 74 at Medford Village to claim a Junior Tour victory


   Luke Simeone of Moorestown, N.J. had three birdies in a solid 2-over-par 74 that gave him the top spot in the 16-to-18 division in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop at Medford Village Country Club in Medford, N.J. Wednesday.
   Simeone made birdies at the first, 14th and 18th holes on his way to best score of the day. Ryan Kennedy of Wayne and Maxwell Rubin of Marlton, N.J. shared second place as each finished two shots behind Simeone at 4-over 76.
   Noah Petracci of Atco, N.J. and John Bradbeer of Bryn Mawr shared fourth place, each posting a 78. Logan Hay was alone in sixth with an 82.
   Noah Greenspun of Cherry Hill, N.J. and Kyle Bartholomew of Westampton, N.J. shared seventh place, each carding an 84. William Tone of Moorestown, N.J. finished ninth with an 86 and Tyler Peters of Berlin, N.J. rounded out the top 10, taking 10th with an 88.
   Matthew Normand of Lamberton, N.J., last year’s Sam Penecale Scoring Average Leader among the nine-holers, continues to improve as he topped 13-to-15 leaderboard with a solid 78. Norman birdied the second hole on his way to his first Junior Tour victory of the year.
   Jack Ross of Medford Lakes, N.J., coming off an impressive victory with a 68 in a stop at Indian Spring Country Club last week, posted an 81 to claim runnerup honors, three shots behind Normand.
   Henry Stone of Kennett Square finished third with an 85, Chase Cristella of Mount Laurel, N.J. was fourth with a 94 and Cyrus Parvizi of Gladwyne and Joseph Fargnoli of Mickelton, N.J. shared fifth place at 95.
   Ayden Rinaldi of Berlin, N.J. finished seventh with a 98 and Riley Palomata of Westampton, N.J. took eighth with a 100.
   Marple Newtown junior Gillyoung Koh was the winner in the girls 16-to-18 division in a scorecard playoff with Olivia Strigh of Hammonton, N.J. after each carded an 86. Koh’s back-nine 41 proved to be decisive in the tiebreaker.
   Kiera Bartholomew of Team Bartholomew of Westampton, N.J. was the lone competitor in the 13-to-15 division and posted an 83 that featured five pars in a solid back-nine 40.
   Rhianna Gooneratne of Plymouth Meeting has been playing some solid golf of late and she was rewarded with a victory, besting the field of nine-holers with a 5-over 41 that included four pars and a birdie on the sixth.
   Avery McCrery of Wilmington, Del. was the runnerup with a 43, Hannah Puc of Mount Laurel, N.J. was third with a 44 and Michael Dignazio, another Wilmington, Del. entry, was fourth with a 45.
   Tommy Marshall of  Marlton, N.J. finished fifth with a 46, Owen Tilsner of Warminster was sixth with a 48, Ethan Lagarda of Voorhees, N.J. was seventh with a 50, Mason Wiener of Holland was eighth with a 57 and Dominic Musso of Florence, N.J. was ninth with a 60.
