Ross has the tiebreaker edge in Junior Tour victory at Avalon

With school starting to let out for summer, the Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour’s schedule starts to shift to weekday events and Tuesday was the annual trip to Avalon Golf Club in Cape May Court House, N.J.
The 13-to-15 division needed to go to the scorecards for a tiebreaker with Jack Ross of Medford Lakes, N.J. emerging as the winner after his 3-over-par 74 over the 6,272-yard, par-71 Avalon layout was matched by Corey Haydu of Doylestown and Ryan McCabe of Media. Ross’ 1-over 36 on the back nine gave him the tiebreaker edge.
McCabe captured the District One Class AA individual title as a freshman last fall while leading Devon Prep to the district team crown.
Jack Farkas of Ardmore finished alone in fourth place with a 78, Jack Reid of Medford, N.J. was fifth with a 79, Charles Long of Allentown was sixth with an 83 and Connor Cunningham of Dresher was seventh with an 88.
Tyler Schmidt of Langhorne finished eighth with an 89, Joseph Fargnoli of Mickleton, N.J. was ninth with a 97 and Michael Tyrrell of Maple Glen rounded out the top 10 with a 101.
Ryan Kennedy of Wayne had two birdies on the back nine on his way to a 79 that gave him the top spot in the 16-to-18 division. Benjamin Griffaton of Pottstown and Colton Murray of Sewell, N.J. shared second place, each carding an 83.
Nicky Scarpone of Broomall finished fourth with an 86, Jack McCarthy of Landenberg was fifth with a 90 and Brian Madden of Westmont, N.J. was sixth with a 102.
Olivia Perry of Millsboro, Del. birdied the seventh hole on her way to an 83 that gave her a victory in the girls 16-to-18 division. Addi Mann of Cherry Hill, N.J. was the runnerup with an 88. Mann opened the back nine with a run of three straight pars.
The 13-to-15 division saw just two shots separating the three competitors with Kathleen Mark, who helped Episcopal Academy capture the Inter-Ac League title as a freshman this spring, coming out on top with an 87.
Eden Richmond of Princeton, N.J. was just a shot behind Mark in second with an 88 and Chaela Barnett of Churchville was another shot behind Richmond in third with an 89.
It was a good day for Team Barnett of Churchville as Lola Barnett started with a par and finished with a par to post a 47 and top the field of nine-holers. Devin Carpenter of Philadelphia was the runnerup with a 55 and another Philadelphia entry, Joseph Mancini, was third with a 66.
