Thomas, Morganti turn up the heat in Junior Tour stop at at Kennett Square

   Win Thomas of Unionville captured the 13-to-15 division in a match of scorecards with Joseph Morganti of Havertown in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop Tuesday at Kennett Square Golf & Country Club, but there were no losers between these two as both put on an outstanding display of golf while carding a 1-over 72.

   Thomas had two birdies and no bogeys in a back nine of 34 over the 6,205, par-71 Kennett Square layout with that back nine giving him the tiebreaker edge. Morganti had a remarkable five birdies on the front nine. And you thought the weather was hot.

   It was a pretty impressive day all around for the younger age group as 13 players broke 80. William Bennink of Kennett Square and Roy Anderson of Chadds Ford shared third place at 6-over 77.

   Radnor sophomore Davis Flannery led a group of four players tied for fifth at 78 that also included Keller Mulhern of Exton, Joseph Taggart of Broomall and William Pabst of Roaring Brook Township.

   Another Kennett Square Bennink, this one Connor, headed a group of five players tied for ninth at 79 that also included Luke Watson of Royersford, Jack Cooley of Chadds Ford, Ryan McCabe of Media and Jake Maddaloni of Newtown Square.

   Jaden Weisman of Malvern had three birdies on the front nine on his way to a 3-over 74 that gave him top honors in the 16-to-18 division. Strath Haven senior Ben Newlon and Nicholas Schnur of Lafayette Hill shared second place, each carding a 77.

   Joe Polidoro of Glassboro, N.J. finished alone in fourth place with a 79 and Alex VanScoy of Newark, Del. and Ryan Wagner of West Chester tied for fifth at 82.

   Ethan Krohn of Berwyn finished seventh with an 83, Samuel Bertrando of West Chester was eighth with an 84 and Griffin Foll of Yardley was ninth with an 85. Rounding out the top 10 were Connor Kirkwood of Mechanicsburg and Ryan Woelfling of Myerstown, both of whom finished tied for 10^th at 86.

   Georgia Naples of West Chester birdied the par-5 16^th hole on her way to an 81 to capture the girls 16-to-18 division. It was Naples’ second Junior Tour win in as many days as she topped the 16-to-18 field Monday at The Springhaven Club.

   Liv Juliana of Malvern was the runnerup with an 84. Lily Byrne of Downingtown was third with a 91, Maya Trujillo of Philadelphia was fourth with a 97, Anne Shand of Lancaster was fifth with a 104 and Elaine Loose of Malvern was sixth with a 129.

   Charlotte Scully of Chadds Ford had a solid 86 that featured eight pars to claim the 13-to-15 division title. Leah Walter of West Chester was the runnerup with a 92 and Niosha Parvizi of Gladwyne finished third with a 97.

   Nicholas Gross of Downingtown birdied the par-5 18^th hole to put the finishing touch on a 2-over 38 that enabled him to top the field of nine-holers. Henry Stone of Kennett Square was the runnerup with a 41.

    Benjamin Saggers of West Chester finished third with a 42, Sawyer Brockstedt of Rehoboth Beach, Del. was fourth with a 47, Bret Bergey of Downingtown was fifth with a 50, Stefania Fedun of Glenmoore was sixth with a 52 and Kaitlyn Ferrer of Kennett Square was seventh with a 53.

    Samuel Feeney of West Chester finished eighth with a 54, Griffin Gaughan of Avondale was ninth with a 55, Sophie Walter of West Chester was 10^th with a 56 and Michael Dignazio of Wilmington, Del. was 11^th with a 59.
