Sheehan takes lead at Precision Pro Golf Open with 69 at Hickory Valley

   Patrick Sheehan of Doylestown had just one bogey on his card as he grabbed the lead in the 16-to-18 division on Day 1 of the Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour’s Precision Pro Golf Open Thursday at Hickory Valley Golf Club’s Ambassador Course in New Hanover Township.

   Sheehan finished with a 2-under 69 over the 6,132-yard, par-71 Ambassador Course to take a four-shot lead in the division. The Precision Pro Golf Open is also operating with a 13-to-18 division and Sheehan’s lead in that overall division is just two shots over Morgan Lofland of Paoli, whose even-par 71 leads the 13-to-15 division.

   Conner Gollwitzer of Boyertown is in second place in the 16-to-18 division with a 2-over 73. Michael Robinson of Gettysburg and Alex Golland of Wynnewood are tied for third, each carding a 3-over 74.

   Caleb Ryan, a PIAA Class AAA Championship qualifier as a sophomore at Norristown last fall, is alone in fifth with a 75. Mac Costin, a junior at The Haverford School, Thomas Butler of Telford and Nikita Romanov, the 2016 Junior Tour 13-to-15 Player of the Year from Wilmington, Del., are all tied for sixth at 76.

   Costin’s Haverford School teammate, David Hurly, also a junior, and Tyler Coyle of Schuylkill Haven round out the top 10 as they are tied for ninth at 77.

   Lofland surged to the top of the 13-to-15 division with an eagle at the first and three straight birdies on 14, 15 and 16 in his even-par round. Calen Sanderson of  Skillman, N.J. is alone in second place with a 3-over 74.

   Stephen Lorenzo of Lower Gwynedd, Karl Frisk of Spring Grove and Jack Cooley of Chadds Ford are tied for third, each carding a 4-over 75. Win Thomas of Coatesville continued his strong play this spring with a 77 that left him alone in sixth place.

   John Wang of Wilmington, Del. and Jacob Sokalsky of Garnet Valley are tied for seventh at 80, Justin Dougherty of Wyndmoor is ninth with an 81 and William Pabst of Roaring Brook Township rounds out the top 10 with an 82.

   Julianne Lee, the third-place finisher in the PIAA Class AAA Championship as a junior at Central York last fall, leads the pack in the girls 16-to-18 division with a steady 80 that included 11 pars. Samantha Fritzinger of Allentown is in second place, a shot behind Lee at 81.

   Savanna Haas of Pottstown is third with a 95, Courtney Caiola of Schwenksville is fourth with a 97 and Helen Shaw of Harleysville is fifth at 104.

   Michelle Cox of Allentown leads the 13-to-15 division with a 96. Nora Blatney of Wyndmoor is in second place at 127.

   Hunter Probst of Bear Creek leads the way among the nine-holers with a 6-over 42. Henry Stone of Kennett Square is in second place, three shots behind Probst with a 45.

   Ajeet Bagga of Blue Bell is third with a 46, Evan Jozwiak of Sinking Spring is fourth at 47, Kristof Kopecky of Garnet Valley is fifth at 48 and Caroline Gola of North Wales is sixth at 59.

   The Precision Pro Golf Open also includes a women’s 17-to-24 division and Shannon Weber of Kutztown grabbed the lead in that division with an 82 that included two birdies.

   Annalia Kostow of Lebanon is in second place with an 88 and Anna Haley of Drexel Hill is third at 91.
