Ryden a par-buster in Junior Tour win at Chisel Creek



   Alec Ryden of Moorestown, N.J. really got it going in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop at Chisel Creek Golf Club in Landenberg Wednesday as he had five birdies to win the 16-to-18 division with a sizzling 2-under 68.
   Akira Pavey of Dover, Del. had a pretty strong round in taking runnerup honors with a 1-over 71 over the 6,021-yard, par-70 Chisel Creek layout. Pavey toured the back nine at Chisel Creek in 2-under. Kaden Kinnard of New Castle, Del. finished third with a 75.
   Charles Nestory of Doylestown finished fourth with a 79, Mitchell Schwartz of Phoenixville was fifth with an 87 and Jack McCarthy of Landenberg was sixth with a 90. Shaun Glenn of Philadelphia and Jack Stosic of Newark, Del. shared seventh place, each carding a 92.
   Owen Schlegel of Wilmington, Del. took ninth with a 95, Gee Smith of Haverford was 10th with a 96 and Edward Saad of Wilmington, Del. was 11th with a 102.
   William Bennink of Kennett Square also heated up on the back nine at Chisel Creek with a 2-under 33 on his way to a 5-over 75 that gave him top honors in the 13-to-15 division.
   Roy Anderson of Chadds Ford, Jack Davis of Newtown Square and Nicky Scarpone of Broomall shared runnerup honors, each posting a 76. Davis’ pitching wedge found the hole for an eagle on the 17th hole.
   Connor Bennink of Kennett Square – twins, maybe, the Benninks are both class of 2019 – Ryan McCabe of Media and Hunter King of Atglen finished tied for fifth at 77. Matt Walsh of Chester Springs finished eighth with a 78, Evan Barbin of Elkton, Md. was ninth with an 80 and James Omalley of Harleysville rounded out the top 10 with an 85.
   Noah Sim of Ambler, Alex O’Brien of West Chester and Jacob Sokalsky of Garnet Valley finished in a tie for 11th at 87.
   Minjoo Kim of Lansdale had birdies at nine and 11 on her way to a 90 that gave her a victory in the girls 16-to-18 division. Anna McCormick of Harrisburg was the runnerup with a 95.
   Henry Stone of Kennett Square topped the field of nine-holers with a 7-over 42 that featured four pars. Hunter Probst of Bear Creek was the runnerup with a 46 and Bret Bergey of Downingtown took third with a 49.
