Paradee wins the day, Covey the series as JGS Mizuno Rehoboth Beach Series wraps up

   Jackson Paradee of Dover, Del. had a steady 1-over 73 at Bear Trap Dunes Golf Club’s Black Bear and Grizzly courses in Ocean View, Del., to win the 16-to-18 division as the Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour’s Junior Golf Scoreboard Mizuno Rehoboth Beach Series concluded Wednesday.

   Paradee rattled off nine straight pars at one point and had a birdie on the 15^th over the 6,368-yard, par-72 Black Bear and Grizzly courses. Michael Festa of Ambler was the runnerup with a 2-over 74 that featured three birdies at the first, fourth and 11^th holes.

   Nicholas Covey of Easton, Md. was one of three players tied for third at 3-over 75. Covey played in all three legs of the series and claimed the overall 16-to-18 title. He opened with an 83 at Rehoboth Beach Country Club and added a sparkling 1-under 70 at King Creek Country Club. Combined with his final-round 75, he ended up with a 54-hole total of 228.

   Frankie Markiewicz of Middletown, Del. also completed all three legs of the series and was the runneriup to Covey in the overall scoring at 230. Markiewicz finished alone in sixth at the Black Bear and Grizzly courses with a 4-over 76.

   Sharing third with Covey at the Black Bear and Grizzly courses were Akira Pavey of Dover and Timothy Chaykovsky Jr. of Ambler.

   Three players finished tied for seventh, three shots behind Markiewicz at 79, including Dylan Sterlacci of Downingtown, Brady St. Pierre of York and Jonathan Giambalvo of York.  Alex VanScoy rounded out the top 10 with an 81.

   Jake Maddaloni of Newtown Square fired a 3-over 75 to take top honors in the 13-to-15 division. The Chadds Ford pair of Roy Anderson and Jack Cooley finished tied for second, each carding a 78.

   Anderson easily captured the overall 13-to-15 series win. He opened up with a 77 at Rehoboth Beach, added a 78 at Kings Creek and, with his 78 at the Black Bear and Grizzly courses, finished at 233. 

   The runnerup in the overall scoring was Tyler Kipp of Reading, who trailed Anderson by 19 shots with his 252 total. Kipp finished alone in fifth at the Black Bear and Grizzly courses with an 85.

   Colby Hook of Selbyville, Del. finished alone in fourth place with a 79. Jack Fialko of Berwyn finished alone in sixth place, two shots behind Kipp with an 87.

   Nathan Lutz of Middletown, Del. finished seventh with an 88, Jackson Reid of Bryn Mawr was eighth with a 90, Stephen Cain of Yardley was ninth with a 91, Declan Rymer of Downingtown was 10^th with a 92 and Maceo Giampietro of Malvern was 11^th with a 101.

   Wednesday’s other three winners also put the finishing touch on a series victory, starting with Savanna Haas of Pottstown, who carded an 82 to take the girls 16-to-18 division. Haas had three birdies in her round, two on the front nine and one on the inward nine. Haas had an 89 at Rehoboth Beach and an 87 at Kings Creek to give her a 54-hole total of 258.

   Lily Byrne of Downingtown, who finished third at the Black Bear and Grizzly courses with an 88, was the runnerup to Haas in the series with a 274 total. Olivia Perry of Millsboro, Del. was the runnerup Wednesday with an 87, five shots behind Haas.

   Briana Hocker of Warminster finished fourth with a 98 and Lauren Borda of Yardley was fifth at 123.

   Hannah Lydic completed a sweep of all three individual events in the 13-to-15 division and the series with a 79 on her home course, a round that featured three birdies. Hannah Lydic had a 78 at Rehoboth Beach and an 83 at Kings Creek for a series total of 240. Sarah Lydic, again I’m guessing sister, was the runnerup at the Black Bear and Grizzly courses with an 81 and for the series with a 259 total.

   Paige Richter of Camp Hill finished third with a 98 and Amanda Schuebel of King of Prussia was fourth with a 100.

   Benjamin Saggers of West Chester registered a sparkling 1-under 35, a round that included two birdies, to top the field of nine-holers. It also gave Saggers a decisive 14-shot victory in the series. He had a 40 at Rehoboth Beach and a 43 at Kings Creek, which, combined with the 35 at Bear Trap Dunes Wednesday, left him with a 118 total.

   Bret Bergey of Downingtown was the runnerup Wednesday with a 43. Nicholas Joyce of Quakertown finished third with a 44 and was the runnerup in the series with a 132 total.

   Sawyer Brockstedt Rehoboth Beach finished fourth with a 47. She also completed all three legs of the series and was third overall, two shots behind Joyce at 134.

   Jack Seitchik of Dillsburg finished fifth with a 49. The younger of the Schuebel crew of King of Prussia, Audrey and Alyssa, finished sixth and eighth Wednesday with respective rounds of 51 and 68. Rachel Joyce of Quakertown, I’m guessing Nicholas’ sister here, finished in between the Schuebels in seventh with a 52.
