Big day for the Barbins in Junior Tour stop at Wyncote

   It was probably still a school day for a lot of youngsters Monday, so it wasn’t a full field of players teeing it up in a Philadelphia Section PGA Junior Tour stop at Wyncote Golf Club in Oxford, but the Barbin gang from nearby Elkton, Md. made the trip and played some pretty good golf.

   It was a 1-2 finish for Team Barbin in the 16-to-18 division as Zachary, the oldest of the bunch, carded an even-par 72 over the 6,350-yard, par-72 Wyncote layout to claim the top spot and brother Austin finished second with a 6-over 78.

   The youngest of the Barbins, Evan, snuck into the top 10 in the 13-to-15 division with an 83.

Zachary Barbin’s round featured a 2-under 34 on the front nine at Wyncote. Jack Murray of Pottstown took third behind Zachary and Austin Barbin with a 79.

   Ryan O’Neill of Lansdale finished fourth with an 83 and Jackson Paradee of Dover, Del. and Neel Vidwans of West Chester shared fifth place, each carding an 84. TJ Prushinski of Bear, Del. took seventh with a 91.

   The low round of the day belonged to Stephen Lorenzo of Lower Gwynedd, who attacked Wyncote to the tune of five birdies in a 1-under 71 that gave him the top spot in the 13-to-15 division. Tyler Zimmer of Philadelphia and Matthew Lafond of Blue Bell shared runnerup honors, each posting a solid 3-over 75.

   Jackson Putney of Egg Harbor Township, N.J. finished alone in fourth with a 78. Henry Fish of Malvern, Jacob Sokalsky of Garnet Valley and John Wang of Wilmington, Del. finished tied for fifth at 80. Pretty sure that was a step up in competition for Fish, who has been one of the top contenders among the nine-holers.

   Jake Maddoloni of Newtown Square finished eighth with an 81, Nicholas Hano of Warrington took ninth with an 82 and, as mentioned earlier, Evan Barbin rounded out the top 10 with an 83.

Grace Hickey of Downingtown claimed a win in the girls 16-to-18 division with an 86. Elise Glauser of Newark, Del. was the runnerup with a 95.

   Cailey Roman of York finished third with a 96 and Grace Wang of Belle Mead, N.J. was fourth with a 103.

   Griffin Walizer of McElhattan bested the field of nine-holers with a 47 as he parred three of the last four holes. Hunter Probst of Bear Creek was the runnerup with a 49 and Chloe Bidegary of West Chester took third with a 60.
