Cooley's back nine at Indian Spring gives him a Junior Tour victory

   Jack Cooley of Chadds Ford prevailed in a match of cards – a lot of tiebreakers were required on this day – to capture top honors in the 13-to-15 division in a Philadelphia Section PGA stop on a summerlike Saturday at Indian Spring Country Club in Marlton, N.J.

   Cooley and Patrick Laushell of Morrisville each carded a 4-over 74 over the 6,328-yard, par-70 Indian Spring layout with the victory going to Cooley on the basis of his 1-over 36 on the back nine.

Michael Mitnick of Lindwood, N.J. finished third with a 77, Hayden Greer of Moorestown, N.J. was fourth with a 79, Carl Ernst of Mickleton, N.J. was fifth with an 81 and Jack Davis of Newtown Square was sixth with an 82.

   Alec Stern of Bryn Mawr, Jack Ross of Medford Lakes, N.J. and Roy Anderson of Chadds Ford shared seventh place as each posted an 83. Edward Trumpbour of Villanova rounded out the top 10 with an 84.

   A match of cards was also required in the 16-to-18 division to break a three-way logjam and Andrew Wallace of Narberth, like Cooley with a 1-over 36 on the back nine at Indian Spring, emerged as the winner. Wallace, Andreas Aivazoglou, a Haverford School sophomore from Glen Mills, and Hayden Moffat of Hatboro all came in at 4-over 75.

   Samuel Walker, a classmate of Aivazoglou's at The Haverford School, finished alone in fourth with a 77 and Alec Ryden of Moorestown, N.J. was fifth with a 78. Zachary Howard of Cinnaminson, N.J. and Casey Dao of Elkins Park shared sixth at 79.

   Cal Buonocore, yet another member of the team at The Haverford School from Newtown Square, finished alone in eighth with an 90, Colin Walsh of Warminster was ninth with an 81 and John Mallozzi of Horsham and Gavin Franzon of Chester, N.J. rounded out the top 10 as they were tied for 10^th at 82.

   It was another scorecard playoff in the girls 16-to-18 division with Emma Lawrie of Eagleville claiming the victory after finishing in a tie with Shae Cabaddu of Downingtown at 93. Lawrie’s back-nine 47 proved to be the difference.

   Sophia Mancuso of Jamison finished third with a 96 and Mackenzie Cassidy of Hatboro took fourth with a  115.

   There was no match of cards necessary in the 13-to-15 division, though, as Natasha Kiel of New Hope took care of business with a dazzling 78 that included three birdies on the front nine. Kiel’s listed as Class of 2021, so she’s what, an eighth-grader? Pretty strong.

   Riley Quarterman of Bryn Mawr wasn’t bad herself in claiming runnerup honors with an 83. Sunshine Gu of Yardley finished third with an 87, Eden Richmond of Princeton, N.J. was fourth with a 91, Olivia Strigh of Hammonton, N.J. was fifth with a 92, Chaela Barnett of Churchville was sixth with a 98, Caitlyn Hagerty of Glen Mills was seventh with a 99 and Amanda Schuebel of King of Prussia was eighth with a 114.

   There was one more scorecard playoff required and Matthew Normand of Lumberton, N.J. got the nod among the nine-holers. Normand and Benjamin Saggers of West Chester, coming off a weekend sweep of the two Junior Tour stops last week, each carded a 5-over 40.

   Nicholas Gross of Downingtown finished third with a 41 and Angelina Tolentino of Blue Bell and Ajeet Bagga of Blue Bell shared fourth place, each carding a 43.

   Henry Stone of Kennett Square finished sixth with a 45, Nicholas Joyce of Quakertown was seventh with a 46, Lola Barnett of the Churchville Barnetts was eighth with a 48, Joseph Fargnoli of Laurel Springs, N.J. was ninth with a 50 and Serena Bagga of Blue Bell, older sister of Ajeet is my guess, rounded out the top 10 with a 55.
