Rohanna heats up to grab Pennsylvania Open lead

   Robert Rohanna, the former Penn State standout out of Waynesburg, fired a 7-under 65 at The Club at Nevillewood Tuesday to take a one-shot lead after two rounds of the 100^th Pennsylvania Open.

   Rohanna, who won the 2010 Pennsylvania Open title at Applebrook Golf Club, opened the 54-hole tournament with a 1-under 71 Monday. He got it to 3-under with an eagle at the par-5 seventh hole and then really heated up on the back nine.  He birdied the 11^th, 14^th, 15^th, 17^th and 18^th holes in a brilliant 5-under 31 on the incoming nine.

   Rohanna, who is still pursuing his dream of making it to the PGA Tour, is at 8-under 136 after two rounds. Sunnybrook Golf Club assistant pro Corey McAlarney added a 4-under 68 to his opening-round 69 and is alone in second place at 7-under 137.

   Luke Miller, an amateur from Venetia, and Oakmont Country Club pro Devin Gee are tied for third at 6-under 138. Miller had a 70 Tuesday after opening with a 68 and Gee also added a 70 to an opening-round 68.

   Cole Willcox, the former Malvern Prep standout who plays on pro golf’s mini-tours, had the opening-round lead with a 5-under 67, but fell back with a 73 Tuesday and is one of seven players tied for fifth at 4-under 140.

   Willcox is joined at that figure by David Denlinger (70-70) of Lancaster, Daniel Obremski (74-66) of Irwin,  Tom Keenan (69-71) of Erie, Thomas Steve (70-70), an amateur from Upper St. Clair, JD Hughes (71-69), an amateur from Carlisle, and Stephen Wojnar (71-69) of Glenshaw.

   Stu Ingraham, the head of instruction at the M Golf Range in Newtown Square, heads a trio of players tied for 12^th at 3-under 141. Ingraham, who finished in a tie for second in last year’s Pennsylvania Open at Rolling Green Golf Club, opened with a 68 Monday and fell back a little with a 1-over 73 Tuesday.

   Ingraham is joined at 141 by two amateurs, Mitchell Mercer (74-67) of Wexford and Sean Knapp (70-71) of Oakmont.
