McNabb takes title in Robert 'Skee' Riegel Senior Open

Applebrook Golf Club head pro Dave McNabb, who has already had a good year on the Philadelphia Section PGA circuit, added a victory in the Robert “Skee” Riegel Senior Open Thursday at a rainy Radnor Valley Country Club.
McNabb won last month’s Haverford Trust Philadelphia PGA Classic and its whopping $100K top prize. He is joining the very talented ranks of the Philadelphia Section’s seniors this year and he grabbed the top prize in the Skee Riegel, named in memory of Radnor Valley’s longtime head pro, with a solid 3-under 67 that featured three birdies and 15 pars.
McNabb matched the 67 carded by Terry Hertzog of the Country Club of York, but Hertzog couldn’t hang around for a playoff, so the title went to McNabb. Hertzog had four birdies against a lone bogey in his round.
Dave Quinn of the Links Golf Club finished third with a 2-under 68 and John Allen of Huntingdon Valley Country Club took fourth with a 1-under 69 as only four players were able to break par in the tough conditions.
John Appleget of Wildwood Golf & Country Club, host pro George Forster and Don Allan of Burlington Country Club shared fifth place at even-par 70.
John DiMarco of Laurel Creek Country Club finished eighth with a 71 and M Golf Range instructor Stu Ingraham, who made the cut at last month’s Senior PGA Championship, was ninth with a 72.
Five players – Bill Sautter of Philadelphia Cricket Club, Concord Country Club head pro Mike Moses, Hugh Reilly of Twining Valley Golf Club, Jim Bromley of Play-a-Round Golf, and Greg Farrow of Deerwood Country Club – rounded out the top 10 as they were tied for 10th at 3-over 73.
