Big day for GollfTEC guys Kogelman, Napoletano

   It was a pretty good day for the guys from GolfTEC in King of Prussia as the Lehigh Valley Open wrapped up Tuesday at Northampton Country Club.

   Joe Kogelman fashioned a second straight 5-under 67 for a 10-under 134 total to edge Billy Stewart, an assistant pro at The ACE Club and John DiMarco of Laurel Creek Country Club by a shot and claim his first title in a two-day Philadelphia Section PGA event.

   “I had been playing pretty well leading up to this event,” Kogelman told the Philadelphia PGA website. “I have  been practicing a lot and I was confident in my game. I thought if I could get to double digits (under par), I might have a chance to win.”

   Kogelman’s colleague at GolfTEC in King of Prussia, Cardinal O’Hara product Anthony Napoletano, wasn’t bad either as he posted a pair of 69s to finish in a tie for fifth at 6-under 138.

   Stewart, a product of the Llanerch Country Club junior program, shared the opening-round lead with Deerwood Country Club pro Greg Farrow after both fired 7-under 65s Monday. Stewart added a 70 to get his share of second with DiMarco while Farrow posted a 71 to finish alone in fourth at 8-under 136.

   Joining Napoletano in the tie for fifth were Josh Rackley (69-69), the Gulph Mills Golf Club assistant pro who has been playing at a high level all season, and Jakob Gerney (67-71) of Trump National Golf Club Philadelphia.

   Merion Golf Club head of instruction Mark Sheftic (72-71), M Golf Range instructor Stu Ingraham (71-72) and Radnor Valley Country Club head pro George Forster (69-74) were among a group of six players tied for 27^th at 1-under 143.

   Concord Country Club head pro Mike Moses (72-72) was in a tie for 33^rd at even-par 144 and Overbrook Golf Club head pro Eric Kennedy (72-73) was in a tie for 36^th at 1-over 145.
